Education

1996 Diploma of Illustration and Cartoon (Morris College of Journalism).
1994 B.A. (Hons) Music and Related Arts (Chichester University College).
1991 A levels: Fine Art and Graphics, History of Art, Photography.

Career to Date

1994 - date Professional music teacher at Chichester University, specializing in Jazz piano, double bass and guitar.
1999 - date Resident pianist at Amberley Castle Hotel
1994 - 1999 Resident pianist Minerva Theatre Restaurant, Goodwood Hotel, Selham Country House Hotel, and the Cafe Rouge, Chichester.
Nick has also worked as a freelance illustrator, for a wide variety of clients. His projects have ranged from illustrating a 130-page music textbook to running cartoon workshops in a Primary School.

Other Interests

Jazz Nick plays several instruments to a high standard, and reached the regional finals of the Jazz Musician of the Year competition in 1997 and 1999. He has worked in many musical situtations from big bands to small ensembles, supporting musicians such as Jools Holland, Art Garfunkel, Ronnie Scott’s rhythm section and Bobby Wellins. He has produced three original CDs, acting as composer and arranger as well as performer.
Music Nick's compositions include a full requiem mass for choir and orchestra as well as shorter sacred works. He has played professionally for numerous theatrical shows on guitar, bass, banjo, ukelele, mandolin and violin. He has worked as a session musician in a London studio.
Painting Nick enjoys abstract painting in acrylics and has made detailed studies of colour theory and art history. His main influences include Hans Hoffmann, Howard Hodgkin, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Jackson Pollock and Willem De Kooning.
